Artist Statement: Revealing the multiple idiosyncrasies of the Mulga Parrot was the central focus of this work. A scene that could almost be seen to flutter or preen if you were to blink, sensing the collective energy. I didn’t want to varnish over the knowledge that this species is considered ‘least concerned’ conservation wise. Painted in abundance, the opulence of colour and feathers celebrate the Mulga Parrots’ ability to thrive. Numbing white noise surrounds the congregation, drawing focus to the polite bickering of parrots. I find myself enthralled by their iridescent and varied colours, revelling in the privilege of painting them.
Watercolour
560mm x 760mm (939 x 764mm framed)
Paper Specifications - 100% cotton, 640gsm, cold pressed, natural colour
